Palccoyo Mountain
This impressive natural formation features three rainbow-colored mountains. Adding to its appeal is a striking rock forest and an easy, gentle access route, making it a great alternative to Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain).
DESCRIPTION:
Palccoyo Mountain is located 137 km south of Cusco, approximately a 3.5-hour drive.
The route to Palccoyo passes through traditional villages of the Peruvian Andes, surrounded by a mountainous landscape with valleys full of cultivated fields. After about two hours, before reaching the Combapata Bridge (3,475 m.a.s.l.), we take a detour toward Palccoyo Mountain. For another hour and a half, the road continues through picturesque villages dedicated to agriculture and alpaca breeding.
The adventure begins at the checkpoint at 4,830 m.a.s.l. The route offers unique high-altitude scenery, surrounded by snow-capped peaks such as Ausangate (6,384 m.a.s.l.). It passes through a rocky forest before reaching the viewpoint of the Three Rainbow Mountains (4,879 m.a.s.l.). The trail is very accessible, with an easy level of difficulty and a gentle incline.
